
The date was January 5, 1967. The Beatles were in the midst of laying down the vocal tracks for one of their many monumental singles, “Penny Lane”.
And then they just started fucking around.
The result was “Carnival of Light”, a fourteen-minute, completely improvised track that nobody except a bunch of people at some music festival has heard. In a recent interview with The Guardian, McCartney said the track will probably be released soon. The prospect of a new Beatles release excites a lot of people, not least of all this blogger.
